Band: Equilibrium
Album: Renegades
Genre: Melodic Death Metal
Type: Full-length
Year: 2019
Country: Germany
This is the least Equilibrium sounding Equilibrium release.
I perceive them as folk/viking metal with power metal influences and it is really weird to label it as melodic death.
But this one sounds something like that. More on the side of some kind of modern metal, maybe even nu-metal or metalcore.
Also a few folk influences, maybe industrial.
Overall, juicy sound but primitive, unremarkable riffs, melodies for the sake of melodies and unfitting different kinds of vocals.
Pure disappointment for me, unfortunate style turn.
They're the power folk/viking icon for me but now I can only hope they somewhat turn back.
Otherwise, need to search for something else for vacant place.
